Tree & Hedgerow Planting
In line with enhancing biodiversity, we are hoping to plant a series of oaks, willows and some fruit trees - all native species to widen the area of woodland in the northeast corner of our field and to give us some edible fruits. The dream is develop habitat that supports more species and one that might even tempt the purple emperor butterfly to take up residence. Hoping to be able to source saplings through the Woodland Trust.
122 mixed saplings suitable for hedging with some specimens species have been donated through the Woodland Trust scheme and were planted with the help of Lynsted and Norton Primary School in 2023. We successfully sourced another 400 hedgerow saplings in 2024 and have a further 300 arriving in 2025. We hope to join up areas of woodland and hedgerow to make meaningful wildlife corridors and enhance our biodiversity.
