New Polytunnel

Existing main Polytunnel is an improvised tunnel, recycled from a 30 year old top-half of a cherry orchard cover. It lacks the straight verticals to give height to the sides, which means you cannot stand nor easily access the beds along the sides of the tunnel. The tunnel is also bent at one end which makes it hard to keep the plastic taut and makes it vulnerable in windy weather. The polytunnel houses all our summer tomatoes, aubergines, chillies, sweet pepper etc and also winter lettuce and asian greens and is a vital part of our food growing. The dream is to have a new polytunnel from First Tunnels approx 6m wide and 21m long, with provision for side gauzing to give better ventilation in summer. The correctly shaped tunnel will also allow us to capture rainfall and utilise the whole tunnel area much more easily.
